Irish Culture in Atlanta?

Irish Arts Foundation logoBelieve it or not, Atlanta has a long tradition of Irish culture. Atlanta hosted its first St. Patrick’s Day parade in 1858, and the celebration is still going strong. The Atlanta branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, an international organization founded in 1951 to preserve traditional Irish music and culture, recently hosted the group’s national convention. Traditional Irish music and dance students regularly compete in and win national competitions, and several have gone on to win top medals in Ireland.
